Modline 5 is the latest and most advanced infrared
thermometer series in the IRCON lineup, built to
serve a wide range of industrial temperature
measurement applications. Designed with extensive
customer input and engineered with the expertise
that comes from over 45 years experience in the
business, Modline 5 offers advanced features
available with no other infrared thermometer series on the market.

System Health Check
The Total System Health Check diagnostics tool lets the user verify
that the Modline 5 spot pyrometer is working within factory specifications.
By activating this check from the rear panel or remotely
via the Digital Panel Meter (DPM) the Total System
Health Check verifies that the temperature detector, internal
circuitry, and even the output signal are all working
with the original factory specifications for the sensor.
The Total System Health Check is a great verification
tool for preventative maintenance programs, start-up,
and application troubleshooting.
Dirty Window Detector (Pat. # 5812270)
Dirt, mist, dust, and other types of build-up can
affect the accuracy of any infrared thermometer regardless
of measurement wavelength. Traditionally it has been
up to the enduser to routinely clean the optics of
their sensor to ensure that the accuracy of their
measurement signal did not degrade too much. The optional
Dirty Window Detector (DWD) can sense build-up on
the window of the Modline 5 and provide an alarm output
to alert the user. Programmable coarse and fine parameters
within the Modline 5 setup menus let the user tune
the DWD depending on how severe their process is.
The DWD is an important option for those processes
that cannot tolerate fluctuations in accuracy or the
extremely dirty applications where the user wants
an alarm to notify his personnel that the sensing
window needs to be cleaned.
Match Function
Probably the most common question with non-contact
temperature measurement relates to the emissivity
of different materials. Now Ircon has taken away some
of the guesswork with the Match Function. The Match
Function is a standard feature of the Modline 5 Infrared
thermometer. If the user knows the exact process temperature
(usually verified with a thermocouple / RTD) then
they can program the temperature into the Modline
5 prior to start-up and AUTOMATICALLY adjust the emissivity.
Equations within the Modline 5 will calculate the
emissivity. It’s just that easy!
